Extended Sizes: Meeting the Needs of a Few

In order to become more efficient in this recession, many stores are stocking fewer extended sizes, which makes it difficult for many of us to find shoes that fit. The small sized women are being sent to the children’s department while the larger sizes were being sent to the men’s department.  Thanks.
Shomore and I were discussing this [...]

What Happened to Bakers?

I don’t remember Bakers always being this crazy. Did they always have such colorful, flashy shoes? When I walked by their downtown Brooklyn store, I did a double take to see this boot.
The Two Lips Dakota Boot is $169.99.

I just don’t understand who could or would possibly wear this boot. It is interesting, but the [...]

Modista Closed Down

If you have been to www.modista.com (one of my personal favorite) visual shoe-search engine in the last week or so, you will no longer find the fabulous resource for shoe-lovers that used to exist at that address.
Instead, you will be greeted with this:

This saddens me. I certainly understood that as a visual-marketing site, their time [...]

Vans: Off the Wall

Ask many fashionable women these days to name an iconic shoe or shoe designer, and you will likely receive an answer of ‘Christian Louboutin’, ‘Manolo Blahnik’, ‘Miu Miu’ or other high-end designer likely to be featured on red carpets and Fashion Week.
But, how’s this for an Icon:

$3K Shoe Calendar

Well, it certainly appears that last year’s price escalation on prior-year shoe calendars was not a fluke.
Originally priced at $13.99, just one year later, copies of Michel Tcherevkoff’s Shoe Fleur calendar are now showing asking prices at $2700-$3230…And two of those are ‘Used’ copies.

$3K ??!!?!

Fear the Frog!

OK I know this is late, because the game just kicked off as I write this.  But R5son attends Texas Christian University and they are playing in the Fiesta Bowl a few miles from my house.  I have a house full of young adults who drove 20 hours to attend the game with R5son.  Here is what one of [...]

New Year’s Shoe Crush: Bally

So, I found another shoe to love, and it’s not even a week into the new year. Actually, several shoes; all what you would consider to be basically just small variations on a theme. But, these make such a lovely set of variations. Any one of these decadent beauties would make a dream shoe for [...]

Happy Birthday Cesare Paciotti!

Another New Years birthday is Cesare Paciotti who is 51.  His father owned a shoe company in Civitanova Marche, Italy.  This allowed Casare to study DAMS in Balogna, then travel the world extensively before inheriting the company in 1980 with his sister Paola helping with the operational part.
Here are today’s birthday shoes.
